Strength in Numbers Sports
The Strength in Numbers sports program supports Inuit youth from ages 8 – 18 throughout the school year. Currently, September 2020, The Strength in Numbers sports program run from 2:30pm – 6:00pm at Hardini Community and Recreation Centre located at 235 Donald St, in Overbrook, Ottawa.
At the Strength in Numbers sports program, we provide Inuit children and youth with access to sport and recreational activities and cultural teachings.
While at the program, youth will learn the importance of teamwork, learn fundamental skills to sport, and deepen their understanding of their culture and language.
Our goal is to use sport as a tool to help our youth become physically active, strong, and confident individuals in the community.
While at the Strength in Numbers sports program, the youth will be provided a healthy snack and dinner each evening. Nutritional accommodations for allergies and dietary restrictions can be made.
Transportation is also available to eliminate barriers for accessing the program.
To register for the Strength in Numbers sports program, please connect with our Intake officer, Clara, through Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth, and Families. Once this process is completed, they youth can be enrolled in the program 1-2 days per week.
